Despite their usual simplicity, logos can be very challenging to create. If you already have a logo and just need simple tweaks or adjustments - or if you have a good idea in your mind of what you would like and just need someone to make it real - the job is generally easier and may only take a few hours ($200-$500). The level of detail and nature of the imagery also affects the amount of time spent working on a logo. Starting from scratch, a bare minimum of 10-20 hours ($500-$1000 and up) to develop a decent logo should be expected.

Designing and maintaining websites is complicated and time consuming. There are lots of ways to do it yourself, but much like a carpenter or mechanic, it wouldn't be much of a profession if it was easy because everyone would be doing it themselves. A basic website can easily cost a between $1000 and $3000 (about 20 to 60 hours) and the price gets higher depending on the special features you require, complexity of the project, volume of pages, and so forth. Think of your website as a tool that is necessary for your business to thrive and consider the investments you make in other areas. A website may not be a tangible item you can hold in your hand, but its value is undeniable.

Whether you just need a quick business card made or are looking to launch an extensive advertising campaign, you'll most likely need some sort of printed materials to promote your business. Often the printing costs will be more than what you spend on the design for the item you are producing. Provided you already have a logo and an established company brand or corporate identity, quality creative work for printed items can be relatively cheap - possibly taking just a couple of hours ($100-$250) on the clock. On the other hand, if you are just getting started, there is a lot to accomplish before going to print, and you should be prepared to spend significantly more.

Using custom artwork to promote your business can be fun and exciting. However, it is often a laborious task for all parties involved. I take great pride in the images I produce and I want my clients to be completely satisfied with the results. Each piece of art is unique, truly one-of-a-kind. Factors such as level of realism, detail, style, use of color, type of media, final image size, and number of revisions all play a part in the cost of an illustration. For this reason, I hesitate to offer generic pricing, choosing instead to give specific quotes tailored to each job. For those who would press me for a hard number, the bidding starts at $500 (10 hours).
